Kainaat

perfect puppyToday Kainaat is one. This is him as a perfect little puppy when I first brought him home at 8 weeks old.

Over the past year he has given me a huge amount of pleasure. He is a lovely-natured dog, quick to learn, eager to work and with just the right amount of naughtiness. He is steady and takes everything in his stride which is lucky as generally things are pretty chaotic here. He has to deal with a whole variety of animals (pigs, sheep, turkeys, ducks, chickens, alpacas); me working away a few days a week; an ever-changing group of people camping in our back garden; the attention of lots of children; and he does all this with a friendly, inquisitive, laid-back attitude.

Daisy Dog taught Kainaat how to play tug-of-war which he very quickly became good at. She really adores him even though at times he can be a little annoying.

He is fleet and fearless and loves working sheep. There are lots of tales I could tell about him, but for now I just want to say that I love the fact he is part of my life, and share some photos of him.

N.B. Kainaat means universe in Arabic – so really his name is Mr Universe which basically sums him up for me.

N.B. My friend Pete took most of these lovely photos of Kainaat. See here for more of his work.

Last note: I adore the one up, one down ear thing he has going on.
