We have been putting the turkey chicks outside in good weather in a dog crate for a week or so. Yesterday we decided to let them loose in a specially sectioned off area of the front garden. They loved it and spent a while exploring their new environment, pecking at dirt and generally having a good time.
The silkies even came to see what was going on.
And then one of the turkeys hopped onto the partition and before we knew it they had all escaped and were hanging out with the silkies – their new best friends. They are now free-ranging in the day although we still pop them in their brooder at night so they don’t get cold.
