This is why we have 7 cats – we are a succor for strays.
This little fellow has been hanging around for the past month. He was battered, starving and not in a good way. He went through our bag of turkey feathers looking for food and has come in the house and ripped open bags to try and get at bread etc. We have put some food out for him, but didn’t know what to do really as 7 is ENOUGH cats and our two ginger scientists weren’t hugely keen on him hanging around.
Then last Saturday I found him on the stairs watching while my cats ate their breakfast. I grabbed him.
He is the friendliest, most loving cat I have ever met. All he wants is cuddles, some food and somewhere warm to sleep. We contacted some animal rescue places but there were no spaces. So we resolved to keep him until we could re-home him and if that didn’t happen we would just keep him. Now you see why we have 7 cats …..
Then I remembered my friend Shirley (who lives next door). She recently lost her lovely dog (see here) and was thinking about getting another dog or maybe cat. I introduced them and she loved him.
I got Custard all cleaned up, wormed, flea-ed (?!) and an antibiotic injection for all his wounds and he moved next door on Tuesday.
He settled straight down on Shirley’s lap – two very happy peeps.
Custard now has a forever home with a back-up forever home (us) should anything change. He deserves it.
